Srinagar, January 19 (KNO) : Paying tributes to slain of Gawkadal, Handwara and Kupwara on their anniversaries, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) on Saturday remembered all the slain of Kashmir, saying that whole nation is indebted to their sacrifices and duty bound to take their mission to logical conclusion. JKDFP spokesperson in a statement issued to KNO said that “massacres of Gawkadal, Handwara and Kupwara at the forces are only tip of an iceberg. India has been so brutal that government forces have turned the whole disputed region into a killing filed and they have massacred Kashmiri people in nook and corner. These government forces are still on a killing spree in the garb of encounters and forces operations.” “The nation of Kashmir is indebted to martyrs who laid down their lives for freedom and everybody among us is duty bound to continue their struggle till the achievement of the sacred goal,” he said. Terming the massacres at Gawkadal, Handwara and Kupwara in 1990 as ‘a reminder of occupation’, JKDFP spokesperson said that Kashmiri people will not rest till the goal of freedom is achieved. He said that forces started their killing spree from Gawkadal and these forces are continuously killing people for their political beliefs. “These forces killed more than 50 persons in Gawkadal, and thought that Kashmiris will surrender their demand of self determination; however time has proved that Kashmiri people will never surrender their internationally acknowledged demand,” he said. He said that “days like January21, 25 and 27 remind us of the sacrifices rendered by our dear ones. Great nations never forget their martyrs and so Kashmiri people will always remember those martyred by forces.” The spokesperson also remembered its incarcerated chief, Shabir Shah and all those languishing in different jails of the state or outside. He said that “Shah is being punished for his fearless advocacy of the right to self determination, and all other prisoners including him are in fact nourishing the resistance movement by spending their precious days behind bars.”(KNO)
